Inspired by Mexican popular culture, Kahlo explored questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, and class in her country's society. In 1940 Kahlo produced ‘Self-Portrait with Cropped Hair’, her first portrait after her divorce from fellow artist Diego Rivera. Kahlo depicted herself wearing an oversized men’s suit and her hair cut short expressing her new profound independence. 

Approximate dimensions: 50 x 40cm. The image area measures 43 × 31 cm and comes with a border containing the artist name and print title near the bottom edge of the paper.
